A year ago I wrote a list of my Top 10 most anticipated films headed into 2015. Here is that list, in the order in which I was looking forward to the films, and a quick blurb of how reality met desire.
10.) Entourage
I thought it would be fun to see all the familiar faces together and that four years off would give Doug Ellin enough time to write a coherent script with some flow and, more importantly, laughs. I was wrong, though. Rating: 4/10
9.) Get Hard
Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. What could go wrong, right? Well a lot, is apparently the answer. Rating: 4/10
8.) Ted 2
A let down for sure, this had no right even existing, having three main plots stuffed inside one only middling amusing film. Rating: 5/10
7.) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2
I thought “Mockingjay – Part 1” set up this to be an epic finale. Turns out the series had completely run out of steam and crawled a merciless boring climax. Rating: 4/10
6.) Spectre
Christoph Waltz could have been the greatest Bond villain in the history of the franchise, but nope, the were content giving him nothing to do and only 20 minutes of screen time in a beautiful-looking but overall boring as hell film. Rating: 5/10

5.) Furious 7
The first film on the list that actually was worth the wait, this was just more of the same but no one is complaining about that. Rating: 7/10
4.) Avengers: Age of Ultron
It had the darker tone that I anticipated and even if it was a lot like the first Avengers film, this was a very fun kickoff to the summer movie season. Rating: 8/10
3.) The Hateful Eight
You can read my review here but I was let down by this one. A lot of (very) slow build up that led to a payoff that was nowhere near worth it. Rating: 6/10
2.) Ant-Man
I thought this could be a different superhero film, and Paul Rudd can do no wrong. Rudd was as charming as ever but the plot and execution to this was as standard and by-the-numbers as anything out there. Rating: 5/10
1) Star Wars: The Force Awakens
It was my first-most anticipated film by a mile and it was pretty much everything I wanted (and needed) it to be. Fun and exciting, with a perfect blend of nostalgia and new, I would have been actually physically upset if this one had not delivered. Rating: 7/10
